The youth team of Kyrgyzstan in football (U-23) has completed the first round of the group stage of the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, finishing in third place in Group A.
On January 6, the Kyrgyz team faced the tournament hosts — the Saudi Arabian national team. The match ended in a defeat for our team with a score of 0:1, with the decisive goal scored in the 88th minute. The Kyrgyz national team played with one player less from the 34th minute, and in the 77th minute, goalkeeper Kurmanbek Nurlanbekov brilliantly saved a penalty.
In another match, Vietnam secured a victory over Jordan, finishing the game with a score of 2:0.
Thus, following the first round, both Vietnam and Saudi Arabia have 3 points, while Kyrgyzstan and Jordan remain without points.
The top two teams from the group will advance to the next stage of the tournament — the playoffs.
The matches of the second round will take place on January 9, where Kyrgyzstan will meet Vietnam.
