Today, January 6, the youth football team of Kyrgyzstan begins its participation in the final stage of the Asian Cup for players under 23 years old. The tournament is taking place in Saudi Arabia, and in the first round, the Kyrgyz team will face the host team in Jeddah. The match is scheduled to start at 22:00 Bishkek time.

This tournament will be the sixth for Kyrgyz footballers in the Asian Cups.

The debut of the Kyrgyz national team in the main stage of the Asian Cup took place in 2006 when the team (U-20) managed to qualify for the final part. In their first match, they drew 1:1 with India, with the only goal scored by Ildar Amirov.

The next appearance in the final stage of the tournament had to wait a whole 10 years. In 2016, the team (U-16) under the guidance of Samat Suymaliev participated in the tournament in India. In their first match, the Kyrgyz team won against Australia 1:0, with the decisive goal scored from a penalty by Adilet Kanybekov.
