According to meteorologists' forecast, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on March 4, 2026, cloudy weather will prevail in Mongolia. At night, light snowfalls and blizzards are predicted in the Mongolo-Altai and Khangai mountains, while during the day in the Khangai and Khuvsgul mountains.
Today, snowfalls and blizzards are expected in most regions of the country. In the eastern part, precipitation will begin on March 3, and on the Khalkh River — on March 4. A significant drop in temperature is also anticipated in most areas. Strong winds are forecasted in the southern part of the country, which may reduce visibility on the roads and create dangerous conditions for travel.
As for precipitation: at night, light snowfalls and blizzards are possible in the Mongolo-Altai and Khangai mountains, while during the day — in the Khangai and Khuvsgul mountains.
Regarding wind conditions: in the southern regions, the wind will blow from the west, while in other areas it will come from the northwest at a speed of 5-10 m/s, and in the Altai mountains and the Arts-Bogd gorge — 13-15 m/s.
The air temperature in most regions will decrease. At night, in Uvs Lake and the Darkhad Basin, it may drop to -30... -35 °C, in the Tes River valley — to -36...-41°C, and in the Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Zavkhan mountains, as well as at the source of the Zag-Baidrag River and the Ider River valley — from -25 to -30°C. In the foothills of the Khangai mountains and in the north and east of the Gobi, the temperature will be -14...-19°C, in other areas — -20...-25°C.
In the vicinity of Ulaanbaatar, cloudy weather is expected, with no precipitation. The wind is from the northwest at a speed of 4-9 m/s. At night, the temperature in the Yarmag-Songino area will range from -28 to -30°C, in other areas — from -22 to -24°C, and during the day — from -10 to -12°C. In the Baganuur area, it is also cloudy with no precipitation. The wind is from the northwest at 5-10 m/s. Night temperatures are expected to be -28...-30°C, and during the day — -14...-16°C.
In the eastern regions of the country, severe frosts will last until March 5. In particular, on March 5, light snow is possible in the Uvs Lake basin and the Altai mountains, on March 6 — in the Altai and Khangai mountains, and on March 7 — in the Khuvsgul mountains and the Selenga River basin. It is expected that the cold snap will begin to weaken in the western part of the country on March 5, and in most regions — on March 6.
