PM2.5 refers to particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which are 30 times smaller than a human hair. They consist of a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to the deterioration of air quality in large cities.
According to the global air pollution ranking, Bishkek ranks 30th as of 5:00 PM on January 25.
