PM2.5 consists of fine solid particles that are less than 2.5 microns in size. Their diameter is 30 times smaller than that of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates suspended in the atmosphere, leading to reduced visibility in large cities.
As of January 10, Bishkek ranks 35th in the world air quality and pollution ranking (11:00).
