PM2.5 refers to fine particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times thinner than a human hair. It includes particles of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances often contribute to pollution typical of large cities.
As of January 3, Bishkek ranks 39th in the world air quality ranking (at 5:00 PM).
