PM2.5 refers to solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, making them 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the formation of smog typical of large cities.
As of December 23, Bishkek ranks 11th in the world air quality and pollution ranking (as of 11:00).
