Kasymaiev emphasized that the quality and balance of the General Plan are crucial for the sustainable development of the city, ensuring the comfort and safety of residents, effective resource utilization, and increasing the investment attractiveness of Bishkek, as well as preserving green spaces and historical-cultural heritage.
During the meeting, it was reported that as a result of the administrative-territorial reform of 2024, the area of the city increased by 25,707.3 hectares, bringing the total area to 41,032.67 hectares. The population grew by 132,380 people, reaching approximately 1.3 million, although the actual numbers may be higher due to active urbanization. Participants in the meeting also noted that Bishkek faces a number of serious problems, such as congestion in the transport network, a lack of green spaces, significant infrastructure wear and tear, and chaotic construction, which negatively affects the quality of life of the city's residents.
Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev reported that the General Plan project was presented for public discussion in October 2025, during which more than 300 proposals and comments were received, which will be taken into account in the revision of the document.
Experts from the Research Institute of Prospective Urban Development in St. Petersburg, who developed the project, presented an analysis of the city's condition, demographic trends, and key directions for its development until 2050, including aspects of transport, social, and engineering infrastructure.
As a result of the meeting, the necessity of continuing work on the General Plan, taking into account public and expert proposals, as well as ensuring its consistent and balanced implementation, was confirmed.
