PM2.5 includes solid particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles are a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They are responsible for the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
As of January 2, Bishkek ranks 21st in the world air quality and pollution ranking (11:00).
