PM2.5 refers to solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, with a diameter 30 times smaller than that of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
On a global level, as of January 4, Bishkek ranks 13th (at 11:00) in the air quality and pollution ranking.
