PM2.5 consists of solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. These particles include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
In the global ranking of cities by air quality as of March 25, Bishkek ranks 48th (as of 11:00).
