A fire occurred in a nursing home in Bishkek; however, the building itself remained unharmed. The incident took place in the room of a standalone palliative care unit, as reported by the city’s vice-mayor, Victoria Mozgacheva.
According to her, there are 220 people in the facility receiving services. All of them are safe, and the issue of evacuation is not on the table, she added. The remaining 11 patients were evacuated to another unit, but later the medical staff decided to hospitalize them to prevent possible carbon monoxide poisoning. She also reported that in July of last year, fire safety drills were conducted at the facility in collaboration with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. All activities were completed, and there were no remarks. Currently, specialists are investigating the causes of the incident in the room, added the vice-mayor.
According to her information, a major renovation was carried out in the main three-story building of the nursing home in 2025.
