PM2.5 consists of fine particles less than 2.5 microns in size, which are 30 times smaller than a human hair. They include mixtures of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to pollution characteristic of large cities.
On the international air quality scale, Bishkek ranks 22nd as of February 2 (11:00).
