PM2.5 consists of fine particles less than 2.5 microns in size, which are 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the formation of smog typical of large cities.
As of March 2, Bishkek ranks 4th in the world air quality ranking (5:00 PM).
