An explosion occurred at the Baogang United Steel plant in the city of Bugat at 3:00 PM local time yesterday, according to the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, citing sources. The incident caused strong underground tremors and thick smoke visible in the surrounding area.
Currently, large-scale rescue operations are underway at the site. The operations involve forces from the autonomous region, as well as personnel from the city of Bugat and its Kundulun district. The police have dispatched over 170 officers, more than 70 units of equipment, and five drones. Firefighters and rescue services have deployed over 130 personnel.
The causes of this incident, which triggered noticeable underground tremors, are still being investigated.
