- According to the January report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, wheat production in Russia is expected to reach 89.5 million tons, which is a 2% increase compared to the estimates published in December.

The forecast includes 63 million tons of winter wheat and 26.5 million tons of spring wheat.

Yields are expected to reach a record 3.4 tons per hectare, which is 16% higher than the previous season's figures. The area designated for harvesting will be 26.3 million hectares, which is 5% less compared to last year.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture uses a methodology where the export of each country is accounted for by marketing year rather than calendar year. This period is defined as the time when the harvest is realized.

The marketing year, which lasts 12 months, is calculated separately for each exporting country of agricultural products and crops.

For Russian wheat, the marketing year covers the period from July of the current year to June of the following year. Thus, the 2025/26 season for Russian wheat begins on July 1, 2025, and ends on June 30, 2026.

In 2025, Russia was the second largest supplier of wheat to Kyrgyzstan, accounting for one-third of the total import volume.
