The fire claimed the lives of two patients, 11 people hospitalized
According to the press service of the Bishkek city administration, a fire broke out in the palliative care department of the nursing home, covering an area of about 30 square meters.
Reports indicate that firefighters arrived at the scene in less than ten minutes. Four units of firefighting equipment and ambulance crews were involved in combating the fire.
As a result of the tragedy, two patients lost their lives — they were in critical condition. Another 11 people were hospitalized in medical facilities for observation due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
“In July 2025, fire safety drills were conducted at the facility, and all safety measures were properly followed. The main building of the nursing home was not damaged — the fire occurred only in one room of the palliative care department. Evacuation of the residents will be carried out as necessary,” the press service stated.
It was also noted that the mayor instructed the relevant services to check all documentation to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The causes of the fire will be determined based on the results of inspections by competent authorities.
