"Real" beats "Benfica" in Lisbon amid controversial refereeing

The match, held on Benfica's home ground, ended with a score of 0:1 in favor of the Madrid team.

The first half did not bring many sharp moments for the spectators. "Real" traditionally controlled the ball, while the Portuguese attempted to organize quick counterattacks. One of the most memorable moments occurred when Fredrik Aursnes shot on goal, but Thibaut Courtois successfully dealt with the threat. Kylian Mbappe was the most active player for "Real," but his shots in the first half did not hit the target.

Immediately after the break, "Real" became more active. In the 50th minute, Mbappe made a magnificent pass to Vinicius Junior, who struck effectively into the far corner of the goal. This goal turned out to be the only one in the match.

The second half was memorable not only for the gameplay but also for conflicts between players. The game was repeatedly stopped due to scuffles near the corner flag. The Benfica players persistently expressed their grievances to the referee, demanding a penalty, but he remained adamant. Moreover, Gianluca Prestiani received a yellow card for simulation.

Emotions were running high on the bench as well. Benfica's head coach, Jose Mourinho, was sent off the field in the 84th minute for excessive arguing with the referee. At the end of the match, "Real" skillfully controlled the game and managed to maintain their advantage, leaving Lisbon with an important victory.
