The U-20 World Ice Hockey Championship has started in Bishkek

The U-20 World Hockey Championship started in Bishkek on January 18. This was announced by the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan.

High-ranking officials attended the opening of the event, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov, the Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports Kazybek Moldazhiyev, the Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Junushaliev, the Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Umbetaly Kydyraliev, a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation Council Franz Reindl, the President of the Hockey Federation of Kyrgyzstan Anvar Omorkanov, as well as athletes, coaches, and sports fans.

Edil Baisalov expressed his joy at the arrival of young hockey players from around the world to Kyrgyz land, noting that such international tournaments help strengthen friendly ties through sports and provide youth with the opportunity to gain important experience. He also wished the participants fair play, high sports achievements, and unforgettable matches.

On the opening day, a match took place between the youth national team of Kyrgyzstan and the team from Hong Kong (China).

As a result of the game, the Kyrgyzstan national team won, defeating the Hong Kong team with a score of 4:1.

The U-20 World Hockey Championship will last until January 24. Teams from Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Luxembourg, South Africa, Iran, and Hong Kong (China) are participating in the competition.
