Today, December 28, the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports announced the names of the best athletes and coaches of 2025.
The title of best coach in Olympic sports was awarded to Azat Mirakhimov, who heads the national team of Kyrgyzstan in freestyle wrestling.
The freestyle wrestling team, under Mirakhimov's leadership, began a successful journey at the end of 2024. In 2025, his protégé Ernazar Akmataliev became the Asian champion, while Orozobek Toktomambetov won a silver medal.
At the World Championship, Bekzat Almaz uulu reached the finals, and Akmataliev added a bronze medal to his achievements.
Among the other nominees for this award were Nurbek Izabekov (women's wrestling), Ulukbek Karacholokov (Greco-Roman wrestling), Daniyar Tologon uulu (boxing), and Evgeny Petrashov (swimming).
