An exhibition 'Textile. The Thread of Time' opens in Bishkek
On March 26, an exhibition titled "Textile. The Thread of Time" will open in the capital. The event is timed to coincide with the launch of the Center for Traditional Crafts, which will operate at the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev.

According to the museum's press release, the exhibition is dedicated to the transformation of natural materials into works of art. Textile, which has held immense significance for the peoples of Kyrgyzstan for centuries, was used for both utilitarian and sacred purposes—from birth to death. This material helped create comfort, provided protection, divided space, and shaped both the physical and symbolic environment—from carpets to clothing.

“In this exhibition, we aim to highlight the main concepts and contexts that may not be well known to the general public: the raw materials, the technologies of production, and their significance in human life. We want visitors to see textiles not just as household items or craft products, but as carriers of knowledge passed down from generation to generation,” the organizers note.
