Today, March 21, a festive event dedicated to the holiday of Nowruz took place in the city of Osh, where the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev, participated. This information was provided by the press service of the parliament.

The event began with a ceremonial tasting of sümlök — a traditional dish prepared in honor of Nowruz. After that, the speaker attended the official part of the celebration in the central square.

In his address to the residents of the city and participants of the celebration, Marlen Mamataliyev noted that since ancient times, Kyrgyz ancestors celebrated the spring equinox as the beginning of the new year. He emphasized: "This holiday, enriched with symbolic rituals, has a deep meaning, celebrating the power of nature and the eternity of life."

Furthermore, the speaker noted that Osh is one of the oldest cities in Kyrgyzstan with a history exceeding three thousand years.

He also mentioned that the country's president, Sadyr Japarov, supports the development of the city of Osh in the economic, scientific, and cultural spheres. Currently, projects aimed at improving infrastructure, including roads, landscaping, and the construction of social facilities, are actively being implemented in the city. "I believe that the status of our city, which is called the 'cultural capital of the Turkic world,' 'cultural capital of the CIS,' and 'center of the Great Silk Road,' will continue to strengthen, and in the future, it will become not only a cultural center of Central Asia but also an important global cultural center. Let us cherish our heritage left by our ancestors and actively participate in the development of the city," added Marlen Mamataliyev.

The speaker also emphasized the symbolism of the coincidence of the celebrations of Nowruz and Orozo ait, calling it a good sign. He added: "If Orozo is a sacred duty aimed at spiritual purification, then Nowruz is a special holiday calling us to renewal. May our fast be accepted, and may the Almighty fulfill all our good intentions."

Marlen Mamataliyev also briefly discussed the reforms being carried out in the country. "Significant attention is being paid to regional development, and measures are being taken to address pressing issues faced by the population. Social facilities are being built, and salaries, pensions, and benefits are being increased. New jobs are being created, and infrastructure is being improved. We do not intend to stop at what has been achieved. If we move forward based on consensus and unity, we will soon be able to make Kyrgyzstan a prosperous state. Therefore, it is important that we unite our efforts and support each other in striving for a bright future for our country," concluded the speaker.

The event featured a special program reflecting the rich cultural heritage and spiritual values. Members of the Jogorku Kenesh, including the speaker, observed national games and other performances.
