Today we will tell readers the story of the name of the village of Dөң-Talaa in the Ton district of the Issyk-Kul region.

It is located in the valley between the southern part of the Teskey Ala-Too and the northern part of the low mountain ranges of Dumana and Tegerek. The climate is continental, with summer temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius, and winter temperatures dropping to -20 to -22 degrees. The annual precipitation is 300-350 mm, and the average snow cover is about 10-20 cm. The area is rich in underground water.

According to the local elder from the Jambal clan, Ömüraliyev Asankul, before the resettlement of people, a large part of the territory of the mentioned village was filled with "chiy" (a tall, tough steppe grass whose stems are used to make mats), and there were many hares in this thicket. In various places within these thickets, several hills emerged. In this regard, the fields in the village with chiy and hills were called "Dөң-Talaa" (dөң - hill, talaa - field).

He noted that the first house in the village of Dөң-Talaa was built in 1931 by Akmataaly Medetov.

This information was confirmed by the grandson of K. Medetov, Yrysbek Akmataliyev Moldo.

Additionally, the villagers shared information about the canal of the village of Dөң-Talaa:

“The canal in Dөң-Talaa flows through several villages. It begins near the large mosque and flows to the area known as 'Black Starling.' In the 1960s, the residents of the villages of Dөң-Talaa and Kоңur-Өlöң dug the canal to bring water to agricultural lands. In general, this canal was dug with the help of machinery.”
