The highway Barskoon–Ak-Shiyrak in the Issyk-Kul region has been reopened for traffic.

According to information provided by Turmush, Uluk Musan uulu, the head of road maintenance enterprise No. 3, reported the complete restoration of traffic on the Barskoon–Ak-Shiyrak road. Snow drifts at the Soek Pass have been successfully cleared.

In certain sections of the road, the snow cover reaches 40-50 cm. The road was closed since December 8 due to heavy snowfall; however, ongoing clearing operations have allowed traffic to resume.

According to one of the road workers, on the night of December 10-11, 2025, the temperature at the pass dropped to 30-32 degrees below zero.



This week, a snow cyclone hit Kyrgyzstan. In the mountainous areas of the Issyk-Kul region, snowfall significantly hampered traffic.

On December 10, a traffic jam formed on the Tyup–Kegen highway in the Issyk-Kul region due to heavy snowfall and a blizzard, which trapped more than 200 vehicles. To unblock the road, personnel from the police department, emergency services, and road maintenance were mobilized using special equipment.

In the village of Zeleny Gai in the Jeti-Oguz district, transportation difficulties also arose due to snow-covered roads, which prevented schoolchildren from reaching educational institutions. The head of the local administration appealed for assistance in clearing the roads.

On the Soek Pass, traffic was closed due to a snowstorm, where the snow cover reached 70 cm. Roads in the Ak-Suu district were also closed due to the blizzard, but efforts by local authorities facilitated their prompt reopening.

Additionally, on December 10, a bus that was stuck on the Tyup-Kegen highway was successfully pulled from the snowdrift and continued its journey towards Almaty.
