The organizers have announced the start of fundraising

This year, the Ulanbek Egizbaev Prize will be organized for the first time based on public donations. According to the organizers, a crowdfunding initiative has been launched with a commitment to provide a detailed report on expenditures.

Azamat Tynai tegin, chairman of the Investigative Journalism Fund, reported that the eighth award ceremony will take place this year, but for the first time it will be funded by public resources. Previously, funding for the event came from international and non-governmental organizations.

According to Azamat Tynai tegin, the idea of making the award "popular" has been discussed within the Fund for several years. This decision has become particularly relevant against the backdrop of the current geopolitical situation, which has led to the cessation or reduction of activities of several media organizations in Kyrgyzstan.

Starting from 2026, according to the Fund's decision, the funding for the Ulanbek Egizbaev Prize will depend entirely on voluntary donations. A special account has been opened for this purpose, and the chairman of the Fund has begun accepting donations using a QR code.

After the ceremony, the organizers promise to publish a complete report on the funds raised and their expenditures.

Every year, the Ulanbek Egizbaev Prize is awarded to journalists for their contribution to the development of investigative journalism in Kyrgyzstan.
