On January 23, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic approved an ambitious project "Financing Agriculture - 14". According to this decree, at least 2.448 billion soms will be allocated to support the agricultural sector of the country. The main advantage of the program is the low interest rate of 6% per annum, and the funds will be distributed through "Ayil Bank" and "Eldik Bank".
Funding will be directed to key areas of the agri-sector: 70% of the total amount (1.7136 billion soms) will go to the development of livestock, 20% (489.6 million soms) will be allocated for crop production, and 10% (244.8 million soms) will be used for the implementation of water-saving irrigation technologies.
The lending conditions for farmers in the livestock and crop production sectors provide for the possibility of obtaining unsecured loans of up to 500,000 soms, which will facilitate access to financing for small farmers. Loans of up to 1,000,000 soms will be provided with collateral. In both cases, the maximum repayment period for the loan is up to 36 months. For the implementation of modern irrigation technologies, larger amounts are provided — up to 3,000,000 soms on a collateral basis with a similar repayment period of up to 3 years.
This government initiative aims to strengthen food security and support agricultural producers in the new season. It is expected that the financial resources provided will help farmers prepare in a timely manner for fieldwork and increase livestock numbers.
