- A draft law has been developed in Kyrgyzstan aimed at introducing the institution of digital evidence, as well as modernizing criminal and procedural legislation in accordance with contemporary digital realities, reports the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

According to the information, the document proposes changes to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Code of Offenses. It introduces the concept of digital evidence and establishes the procedure for its collection, recording, storage, and use within the framework of criminal and administrative processes.

The draft also includes a section dedicated to the protection of citizens' rights. In particular, additional procedural guarantees will be implemented concerning the handling of digital data that affects the confidentiality of correspondence, personal data, and private life, as well as mechanisms for judicial oversight.

Furthermore, the draft law updates outdated terminology, synchronizing it with the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. It also introduces legal mechanisms for working with virtual assets, which are becoming an increasingly frequent target of criminal activities.

The Ministry of Justice emphasizes that the adoption of this draft law will create a modern legal framework for combating cybercrime, establish clear rules for handling digital data, and ensure consistency in law enforcement practices.
