PM2.5 refers to tiny solid particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates suspended in the air. They are the main contributors to the deterioration of air quality in large cities.
On a global scale, as of March 9, Bishkek ranks 90th in the list of cities with varying levels of air pollution (as of 11:00).
