In 2026, the Bishkek City Hall plans to carry out the construction and reconstruction of 119 kilometers of roads and bridges, as reported by the city's mayor Aibek Junushaliev.
Among these works, 19 kilometers will consist of new roads, while 100 kilometers will be reconstructed. The project also plans to build six new bridges and one road interchange, funded from the local budget.
Additionally, the plans include the creation of 28 kilometers of sidewalks, 20 underground, and three above-ground pedestrian crossings. The possibility of constructing multi-level parking lots is also being considered.
According to information from the city hall, in 2025, 92 kilometers of roads were repaired in Bishkek, in 2024 — 62 kilometers, while before 2023, the average construction rate was about 17 kilometers per year. Thus, the volume of road works has significantly increased in recent years.
Aibek Junushaliev emphasized that the approach to road construction in the capital has changed: first, the replacement of engineering communications is carried out, and only then the construction and major repairs of roads.
The final meeting of the city hall board took place in Bishkek, dedicated to the socio-economic development of the city for 2025 and tasks for 2026, chaired by the head of the cabinet of ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev.
