As part of the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the projects of key reforms and the state program for 2026, as reported by the Telegram channel "Politik Central Asia".

The head of state supported the initiative for strict punishment for violence against women and children, including the proposal for life imprisonment for pedophiles.

This proposal was put forward by a deputy of the lower house of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Dilnoza Azizova, in October 2025. She justified it by citing a high-profile case in the Namangan region, where a 38-year-old man committed violence against a seven-year-old relative.

In neighboring Kazakhstan, authorities decided to apply chemical castration to pedophiles six months before their release and plan to introduce lifelong monitoring of them.

Kyrgyzstan also discussed the possibility of reinstating the death penalty for serious crimes committed against children and women.
