The government of Kyrgyzstan has set a labor migration quota for 2026 at 52,000 people. This information was announced by 24.kg Arlen Aliyasov, head of the department for working with foreign citizens at the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration of the republic.

Aliyasov noted that in the previous year, the quota initially amounted to 25,000, then was increased to 42,000, and subsequently reached 52,000. If necessary, this figure may be revised upwards.

“In 2025, we decided to exclude types of activities from the resolution, as this requires constant changes. The most in-demand professions are in construction and light industry,” he added.

Among those wishing to work in Kyrgyzstan are citizens of China, India, Turkey, Pakistan, and other countries, Aliyasov noted.

He also reported that starting from January 1, 2025, the process of issuing permits for foreign citizens will be changed. As part of a new pilot project, all documents will be submitted through a portal based on the "single window" principle. The responsibility for distributing the labor quota and issuing work permits will be transferred from the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

The pilot project will last until July 1, 2026, and if it is successfully completed, corresponding changes will be made to the country's legislation.
