Where They Live, Who They Work For, and When They Marry: Interesting Facts About Men in Kyrgyzstan

According to the National Statistics Committee, as of the beginning of 2026, there are 3.7 million men living in Kyrgyzstan, which accounts for 49.5% of the total population. These figures were prepared in anticipation of Defender of the Fatherland Day.

The majority of men, approximately 66%, live in rural areas, while one in seven of them resides in the capital, Bishkek.

According to 2024 statistics, the employment rate for men of working age exceeds 77%. The average age of workers is 39 years, with the largest number of employed individuals in the age group of 35-39 years, which accounts for one in seven workers.

Men in Kyrgyzstan primarily work in key sectors of the economy, such as construction, transportation, mining, and energy supply (including electricity, gas, and air conditioning).

In 2024, 45,000 marriages were registered among men. The most active age group for marriage is 20-29 years. The average age of men entering their first marriage is 27.6 years, while for a second marriage, it is 39.6 years.

In government bodies, men make up a significant majority: 55.4% in state administration and 62.3% in local self-government.
