At the Arsen Umuraliev City Drama Theater in Bishkek, a new interpretation of Eugène Ionesco's play titled "Oturguçtar," which is the Kyrgyz translation of the original "The Chairs," is being prepared for its premiere. This information was provided by the theater's press service.

This play, written in 1951 and characterized by the author as a tragic farce, has become a landmark work for the theater of the absurd and has received recognition in various productions around the world.

Alimkan Degenbaeva, a distinguished cultural figure of the Kyrgyz Republic, will present this play in the Kyrgyz language for the first time.

The direction of the performance is by Chagaldaq Zamirbekov, while the set design and costumes are being developed by Zuhra Mukambetova. The choreographer is Sergey Streltsov, also a distinguished cultural figure of the KR.

The performance sheds light on a simple yet profound theme: life, loneliness, love, old age, and death. The main characters—a elderly husband and wife—spend their last day together, awaiting unseen guests, and try to rethink their lives, sincerely striving to understand the meaning of human existence.

The cast features outstanding actors: Nakynai Dyykanov and the honored artist of the KR Ruslan Orozakunov. Their mastery on a stage filled with chairs creates a unique atmosphere that combines dark humor, comedy, and genuine sadness.

The premiere will take place on March 13, 14, and 15 at: Chuy Avenue, 28, Bishkek.
