Damage of a Million Soms: Results of the Work of Kyrgyzstan's Reserves in 2025

In 2025, 139 cases of violations of environmental legislation were recorded in specially protected natural areas of Kyrgyzstan. This data was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

The total damage from these violations exceeded 1.1 million soms. The highest number of violations is related to plant life — 98 cases, with damage amounting to 460.3 thousand soms. Additionally, 20 cases of violations in the field of land resources, 7 in the area of water resources, and 14 concerning animal life were identified.

Based on the inspections conducted:

Currently, 578.2 thousand soms have been recovered in 78 cases. The remaining materials are under review.

As part of the "Zhashyl-Muras" campaign, 25.2 thousand seedlings of forest species were planted in the territories of natural parks, covering more than 39 hectares.

According to the results of the autumn inventory, 359.3 thousand seedlings are still being grown in nurseries, of which 106.8 thousand are ready for planting.

Kyrgyzstan has over 90 specially protected natural areas, including reserves and natural parks, which occupy about 7% of the country's total area. President Sadyr Japarov initiated the national campaign "Zhashyl-Muras" in 2022 with the aim of restoring forest ecosystems and combating climate change.
