Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic: We are determined to enforce strict order in the procurement sector

On December 26, 2025, the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanbek Dosmambetov, held a meeting with representatives of UN organizations to discuss issues related to pharmaceutical provision within the framework of the existing Memorandum of Understanding. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the main areas of cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical provision, including the development of a national regulatory system, expanding access to essential medicines, increasing transparency in procurement, and ensuring the sustainability of supplies.
The Minister stressed that access to quality medicines must be fair and sustainable, which is a priority of state health policy and is directly related to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the goal of "Good Health and Well-being".
Particular attention was paid to issues of procurement transparency and preventing corruption. Kanbek Dosmambetov noted that systemic changes are necessary to eliminate unfair practices and ensure the effective use of budgetary funds.
"The state allocates significant funds annually for the purchase of medicines, and our task is to ensure their maximum transparent and rational use. We are focused on strict control in the procurement sector, cleansing the system of unfair practices, and creating sustainable, honest interactions. We hope for systematic and long-term cooperation with our development partners," the minister noted.
The partners confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation, including assistance in procurement according to international standards, supply chain management, digital solutions, pharmacovigilance, and enhancing the institutional capacity of healthcare.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint work on implementing the provisions of the memorandum of understanding, focusing on specific and measurable results aimed at strengthening pharmaceutical security and protecting patient interests.
