The General Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic has uncovered facts of inflated prices for fish purchased for inmates in the GSIN.
According to information provided by the prosecutor's office overseeing legality in institutions of the penal enforcement system, an investigation was initiated in the State Service for the Execution of Sentences regarding the area of public procurement.
As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that responsible officials of the GSIN, during public procurement in 2025, purchased frozen fish at inflated prices to supply to the inmates. This led to damage to the state amounting to 15.9 million soms.
In connection with the identified violations, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (abuse of official position). Necessary investigative actions are currently being carried out.
