The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs about the introduction of a new online registration system.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has notified citizens who are in China or planning to travel there about new rules regarding residence registration.
A pilot project for online registration for foreign citizens who do not stay in hotels has been launched in China. Since March 20, 2026, the system has been operational in several regions, such as Hebei, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan provinces, as well as in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Chongqing. In the future, there are plans to expand this system nationwide.
According to current Chinese legislation, if a foreigner stays in a hotel, registration is carried out by the hotel administration. However, if a person resides in private accommodation, they are required to register independently or with the help of the host within 24 hours.
Now this can be done online through the mobile application of the Chinese Immigration Service "移民局 12367", as well as using mini-programs on WeChat and Alipay platforms. Nevertheless, the option for registration through a personal visit to public security authorities remains, and online registration holds the same legal validity.
