In Kyrgyzstan, six correctional facilities are being closed: a decision on liquidation has been approved

The order to liquidate six correctional institutions that are part of the State Penitentiary Service (GPS) system has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The official document is already available for review.

According to the decision made, the following institutions are to be closed:


A liquidation commission has been established to carry out the closure, tasked with inventorying assets, settling all financial obligations, including debts to the Social Fund, and preparing a liquidation balance.

The State Penitentiary Service has been instructed to address employment issues for staff, make necessary payments, and transfer property in accordance with current legislation.

Funding for the liquidation process will be provided from the budgetary funds allocated to the GPS.

The decision will come into effect seven days after its publication.
