Starting from November 2026, an experiment will begin in Uzbekistan to implement a jury system. In Tashkent and the Tashkent region, cases related to particularly serious crimes will be considered by this jury panel. The decree to start the experiment was signed by the president of the neighboring country.
As part of the judicial reform, it is also planned to expand the powers of investigative judges, who will be granted the right to independently revoke arrests. In addition, lawyers will receive broader rights, including access to case materials at any time and the ability to send requests to government agencies for free. An important step to support businesses will be the ability for courts to reduce fines for conscientious exporters.
