Fraudsters posing as security service employees swindled millions of soms: scammers caught in Bishkek
In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, a large-scale fraud scheme has been uncovered, in which criminals used messengers to deceive citizens. This information was provided by the press service of the Bishkek City Police Department.

According to the information, on December 22, 2025, a resident of the city, G.C., reported to law enforcement that she had fallen victim to scammers posing as employees of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) and banking institutions.

The fraudsters used various numbers on WhatsApp to communicate with the woman, misleading her and applying psychological pressure. Under the pretext of needing to conduct financial transactions, they convinced her to sell her apartment and transfer 22 million 130 thousand soms to the specified accounts.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (fraud).

During operational search activities, officers of the Main Investigation Department of the Bishkek City Police detained three suspects:


All detainees have been placed in a temporary detention facility in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The investigation is currently continuing to identify other participants in this scheme and gather additional evidence.

The City Police Department reminds citizens that employees of government agencies and banks do not use messengers for communication and never request money transfers or property sales. If you receive such messages, it is recommended to cease communication and contact the police at phone number 102.
