A man suspected of a series of fraudulent activities has been detained in Karakol, as reported by the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region.
The investigation was initiated by a local resident born in 1973, who contacted the police. She reported that an unknown person, posing as a buyer, deceitfully obtained a gold necklace from her daughter at a jewelry pavilion worth 112,500 soms, after which he fled.
The information was registered in the logbook of the Karakol City Police Department, which initiated a preliminary investigation. During the investigation, similar incidents were uncovered:
On November 21, 2021, in a jewelry store in Karakol, a man of Asian appearance deceitfully took two gold bracelets from a minor saleswoman, causing damage amounting to 40,000 soms.
On May 4, 2023, a resident of Karakol born in 1979 reported that an unknown person also deceitfully took gold earrings from her worth 21,000 soms.
On January 12, 2026, a resident of the Ak-Suu district, born in 1995, reported that on December 31, 2025, a fraudster, gaining his trust, received meat worth 11,600 soms without paying for it.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated on all the mentioned facts under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning fraud.
The suspect was detained on February 12, 2026, in Bishkek. He turned out to be born in 1993 and residing in the city of Cholpon-Ata. The court has ruled to place him in custody for one month.
During the interrogation, the detainee admitted his guilt in all four episodes. Investigative actions are ongoing.
