A mediator who was buying bank cards has been detained
Recently, a suspect in a large-scale fraud involving a bank card was detained in the Chuy region. This was reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the region.
According to police officers, on February 5, 2026, a citizen K.A. (born in 1981) approached the police department of the Issyk-Ata district. He reported that the day before, he received a call from unknown individuals via WhatsApp who asked him to dictate a four-digit code. As a result, 1 million 999 thousand 6 soms were stolen from his electronic wallet at one of the banks.
A criminal case has been initiated against the perpetrators under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During operational activities, a citizen T.E. (born in 1984) was identified, who was buying bank cards from people through the messenger Telegram, explaining that he intended to use them for working with cryptocurrencies.
The stolen funds were transferred to a bank card that the detained individual had previously purchased from third parties. This card was registered in the name of another person and was used for cashing out and further transferring funds.
The mediator has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
