Alymbek Keleshov, a warrant officer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, showed courage while saving people during a fire at a nursing home and was taken to a medical facility. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, he suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, but his condition is currently satisfactory, and his life is not in danger.

The incident occurred on January 6 on Abay Street in Bishkek, where 15 people were evacuated from the building due to the fire. Unfortunately, two residents did not survive the tragedy.

Four fire crews were involved in extinguishing the fire, and an operational headquarters was established. The fire was successfully extinguished.

The mayor's office clarified that the fire broke out in the palliative care unit's room, covering an area of about 30 square meters; however, the main building of the institution was not damaged.

High-ranking officials arrived at the scene, including Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev, Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baydalov, and Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration Kanat Sagynbaev.

As a result of the fire, two palliative patients in critical condition died. Another 11 people were hospitalized for observation due to potential carbon monoxide poisoning.

The mayor's office reported that fire safety drills were conducted at the nursing home in July 2025, and all necessary measures were followed. The city head ordered a review of all documentation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic noted that 14 victims were admitted to the Clinical Emergency Hospital: 13 with carbon monoxide poisoning and one with first-degree burns. The condition of four of them is assessed as moderate, while two are in serious condition. Health Minister Kanaybek Dosmambetov visited the injured in the hospital.
