At the tournament in Tirana, which took place on March 1, Akzhol Makhmudov competed in the weight category up to 72 kg and began his journey from the 1/8 finals, where he faced the Kazakh athlete Dias Kalen. In a tense battle, the Kyrgyzstani managed to achieve a hard-fought victory, finishing the match with a score of 4:3, despite being down 0:3 at the start of the bout.
However, in the quarter-finals, Makhmudov was unable to advance further: he fought against the Azerbaijani Tundzhay Vaziri. A key moment in this match was a four-point throw from the opponent, which ultimately led to the Kyrgyzstani's defeat with a score of 2:5.
Unfortunately, after Vaziri lost in the semi-finals to a Russian wrestler, Makhmudov had no opportunity to participate in the consolation matches and finished the competition without a medal.
On the same day, in the weight category up to 82 kg, another Kyrgyzstani, Yrysheldi Maksatbek uulu, also could not advance beyond the 1/8 finals, losing to his opponent from Qatar, Shahin Badagimofrad, with a score of 2:10.
