At the international athletics competition in Russia, Kyrgyzstani Nursultan Keneshbekov won his first medal.

The competition took place on January 7 in Yekaterinburg as part of the All-Russian "Christmas Starts. Memorial E.S. Yalamov".

In the 3000-meter distance, Nursultan finished first among 14 participants, clocking a time of 7 minutes 57.66 seconds. He was just 0.05 seconds short of setting a national record.

"This was my first start of the new season. I competed in a regular mode, without special preparation, right after training. The start of the season promises to be good. Only improvements lie ahead. I'm just 0.05 seconds away from the national record, but I'm confident it's just a matter of time. We will continue to work," the athlete shared on his social media pages.
