At the Asian Cup (U-23), the goalkeeper of the Kyrgyzstan U-23 national team, Kurmanbek Nurlanbekov, made a historic save by saving a penalty in the match against Saudi Arabia.

The match, which was the first in the group, took place on January 6 in Jeddah and ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the hosts.

In the 74th minute of the game, the referee awarded a penalty for a handball by Arslan Bekberdinov. The midfielder of the Al-Qadisiyah team, Musab Al-Juwair, approached the ball but was unable to outplay Nurlanbekov.

This moment became historic as Nurlanbekov became the first goalkeeper from Kyrgyzstan to save a penalty in the final tournaments of the Asian Cup across all age categories.
