It is reported that the destroyer Truxtun and the fast combat support ship Supply collided while conducting a refueling operation at sea. As a result of the incident, two sailors sustained minor injuries, but their condition is not a cause for concern.
Both vessels were able to continue their journey after the incident, moving away from the collision site.
The causes of the incident are still unclear; Southern Command has announced the start of an investigation.
It should be noted that in recent months, the administration of US President Donald Trump has increased military presence in the Caribbean region as part of an anti-drug trafficking operation. Additionally, US forces have utilized their resources to monitor compliance with sanctions against Venezuelan oil following the attempt to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro in January.
