On the night of January 9, the Russian armed forces launched a large-scale strike on Kyiv using drones. According to the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, four people were killed and 19 were injured as a result of the attack. One of the strikes hit a residential high-rise building, and a fire was reported at a shopping center in the Desnyansky district. In the Pechersk district, a 24-story non-residential building was damaged.
Klitschko noted that due to damage to critical infrastructure in Kyiv, there are disruptions in electricity and water supply.
A Russian strike also occurred in the Lviv region, affecting a critical infrastructure facility, as reported by the head of the regional military administration, Maksym Kozytskyi. According to preliminary information from Ukrainian media, the target of the attack could have been a gas field in Stryi and an underground gas storage facility.
