The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that a file containing the flight mission of a Ukrainian drone, which was shot down on December 29 and was heading towards Vladimir Putin's residence in the Novgorod region, was successfully retrieved.

In the agency's statement, it was noted that the analysis of the routing data confirmed that the target of the Ukrainian drone attack on December 29, 2025, was one of the facilities located on the territory of the Russian president's residence in the Novgorod region.

Furthermore, this material has already been handed over to the United States.

Recently, the WSJ published information claiming that Ukraine did not intend to attack the Russian president or his residence. According to the CIA, the Ukrainian armed forces aimed to hit a military target in the same area, but not directly next to Putin's residence.

According to a statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Kyiv carried out a drone attack on the state residence of the president of Russia on the night of December 29.
