Trump stated that he first heard about the attack from Putin himself during a phone call on December 29. “I do not approve of this. It’s bad. This morning, President Putin told me about the attack on his residence. This is unacceptable,” he noted. The president added that the timing for such actions is extremely inappropriate, emphasizing that “one thing is to be aggressive, and another is to attack his home.” He expressed his emotions, stating that he was quite angry about what was happening. Trump also mentioned that he learned about the attack from Putin and stressed that this is not something that should be done at this moment. When asked if he had evidence of the attack from American intelligence agencies, he replied that such information is currently being verified. Trump clarified that the conversation with Putin took place on Monday, not Sunday as previously assumed, adding that “the conversation was very productive.” He also noted that there are difficulties on the path to peace, stating that there are “very complicated issues” whose resolution could lead to the establishment of peace.
According to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on the night of December 29, Ukraine attempted to attack Putin's residence using 91 drones. All drones were destroyed, and according to him, there were no casualties. The official residence "Dinner," also known as "Long Beards," is located in the Novgorod region. Lavrov added that Russia has already identified targets and timing for retaliatory actions but will continue negotiations with the U.S. for peace in Ukraine, despite the need to reassess its position. Kyiv, for its part, rejected the accusations regarding the attack on the Russian president's residence.
